Below is the cover to Drew Lyddon’s track The Body.  I remixed the track at one point, but you will have to dig around Drew’s websites to find it.

I released some old drum&bass music awhile back and decided to do an album cover for it. This cover is probably in my top 5 favorite designs ever. Something about it feels so adventurous, and matches the music so well.

Click on the cover to see the full size.

Since it seems I may have a chance to participate on Layer Tennis, I thought I would dig up some previous headers (which is technically what LT is) that I worked on over the last few years.

The church that my wife and I have been going to has a saturday night service. We have become quite involved in it with the music/worship aspect. Pastor is hoping to begin drawing in more people and growing the service, so I suggested posters and other print media. Here is a poster I designed for it :

.

.

I figured that we are trying to reach those people who don’t usually come to church so I didn’t include religious images or cliche church clipart. It is just a minimal poster “invitation” that we can put up in local grocery stores or coffee shops.

A couple of business card ideas I have been messing with.  I want to get them out soon, but I can’t seem to decide quite yet.  I think I will still poke around at the yellow/photo version of it and use that in the end.

Ok, I finally finished this poster. I had some of the text sitting on the stars picture for awhile, but I couldn’t seem to finalize it. Then, after paging through Dr. Humphreys’ book, I realized that the text was encompassed within the “White Hole Cosmology” theory so I threw that in and wah-lah, a poster!

.

I decided that there wasn’t much of a point to embed the font in the pdf and some people balked at the file size so these are single layer pdfs. Anyway, you can download it here :

“Gravitational Time Dilation” poster — high-res 11 x 14

“Gravitational Time Dilation” poster — medium-res 11 x 14

“Gravitational Time Dilation” poster — medium-res 8.5 x 11

Enjoy.

A 2 foot by 6 foot standing banner that I designed for New Life.

And another one for the highschool they built called Masters Regional Academy. Unfortunately, as far as I know, the banner is no longer used because the highschool kids decided to draw with a Sharpie marker on the faces of each other. Dumb. But it still remains one of my favorite large print designs.

This is the first in a series. The next 2 or 3 posters will be on the same theme as this one, but different sayings/artwork. I am sure you can figure out what the series entails from just looking at the first one.

.

.

You can download one of 2 mid-resolution (120 dpi) pdf posters below and print them out at your desk.

“Because Scientists Believe”  8.5 x 11 pdf poster

“Because Scientists Believe”  11 x 14 pdf poster

Or if you are feeling brave, have a higher resolution printer and a fast connection you can download the high resolution (300 dpi) 11 by 14 pdf poster here.

Enjoy.

Oh, and look for the next poster in this series in about a week. Hint: it has to do with this book.

——

Note: The “Gravitational Time Dilation” posters are nearly done.

Inspired a bit by Port Royal’s cover to Flares, I was messing around with some designs for Please, Remain calm. I eventually went with the more minimal side of things because it was meant to look “hospital/medical” or something. But the first ideas looked like this :

.

.

.

.

Of course, the nice thing about all these designs is I can use them for other projects in the future. I am nearly always writing music (either solo or with Joe as faux.non) and a little touch up here or there is all it would take to export a quality cover. These are just seeds to inspire a new design.

As many of you know I moved back to my home state a little less than a year and a half ago. I enjoyed Rhode Island and my time there, but there is something that calls you back home. When I arrived on familiar soil I thought I would write some music for the occasion. Well, things got busy and I never got farther than shooting some pertinent photos and designing the album cover. Luckly the cover is good enough to be included in my portfolio.

.

.

.

Now that I see it again, maybe I will start writing some ambient stuff to go with the cover. The concept and design is almost too good to waste. Hmmm… might be my next music project.
